I really like the lyrics of this song. They’re meaningful and poetic, but not to the point of obstructing the message. They rail against the socioeconomic gap in the U.S. that is only getting worse, and the erroneous (or willfully deceitful) narrative people are presented with about the upward mobility of all Americans being in direct proportion to how hard they work. “We pulled these bootstraps so hard that they broke.”
