The album this song is from, Vengeance is Mine, is among the albums I had on heavy rotation back when I was getting into underground hip hop. I don’t remember all the tracks from the album well, but this must have been a standout because I do remember it. In it, the emcee paints a picture of the difficult environment in which he grew up. There’s profanity, drugs, violence, etc.
